Choosing a Snapdragon laptop

Snapdragon X laptops use Qualcomm’s Arm-based processors, the same kind of chip design as phones and Apple’s M-series. They’re quick, quiet and efficient, which gives them some of the longest battery life of any Windows laptops. Every one qualifies as a Copilot+ PC.

The trade-off is app compatibility. Most apps now run natively, and Windows translates older ones automatically, but some games, anti-cheat systems, VPNs, printer drivers and specialist software don’t work or run slowly. Check the apps you rely on before buying.

If you mostly use a browser, Microsoft Office and video calls, a Snapdragon laptop is an excellent choice for working on the move.

Frequently asked questions

Are Snapdragon laptops good?

Yes for battery life, quiet running and everyday speed. Check that your apps, games and accessories support Windows on Arm before you buy.

Can Snapdragon laptops run all Windows apps?

Most, either natively or through Windows' built-in translation. Some games, anti-cheat software and older drivers don't work.

Snapdragon X Elite or X Plus?

X Elite chips have more cores and faster graphics; X Plus chips cost less and are plenty for office work and browsing.

Are Snapdragon laptops good for gaming?

Not really. Many games run, but performance is limited and some games with anti-cheat don't run at all.
