How to use the Laptop Finder

The Laptop Finder lists every laptop we track that’s sold in the UK, with the same spec sheet for each one. Start with the filters that rule laptops out, such as your price range, screen size or operating system, then narrow down by memory, weight and features.

When you’re down to a handful, tick Compare on two to five of them to see every spec side by side. Each laptop’s own page has the full datasheet, the other configurations it’s sold in, and its closest rivals.

Not sure where to start? The category pages above group laptops by what people shop for: gaming, students, business, lightweight and more. Each one explains what matters for that kind of laptop.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the right laptop for my budget?

Pick a price range in the filters first, then narrow by type and screen size. Price ranges are approximate, so check the current price on Amazon before you buy.

Which filters matter most?

Start with the ones that rule laptops out: price range, operating system and screen size. Then set a minimum for memory (16 GB suits most people) and, if you'll carry the laptop, a maximum weight.

How much memory (RAM) do I need?

8 GB is the minimum for Windows and fine for a Chromebook. 16 GB is the comfortable standard for most people. Choose 32 GB or more for video editing, big projects or running AI tools on the laptop.

What screen size is best?

13 and 14-inch laptops are the easiest to carry. 15 and 16-inch laptops give you more room to work and usually a number pad. 17-inch laptops are best kept on a desk.

Do I need a dedicated graphics card?

Only for modern games, 3D work and heavy video editing. Built-in graphics handle video, photos, office work and light games. Use the Graphics filter to show only laptops with a dedicated card.

Why does one laptop appear in several versions?

Many laptops are sold in several configurations, with a different processor, memory, storage or screen. Each configuration we track has its own page, and you can switch between them at the top of the page.

What does "Renewed" mean in the condition filter?

Renewed laptops are used laptops that have been inspected and cleaned before resale. They usually cost less than new but are often a few years old, so compare the processor generation and update dates.

How often is the list updated?

We add new models and check prices and availability regularly. Laptops that are no longer sold in the UK are taken off the list. The changelog shows what changed and when.
